Alan Craxford
In recent years I have been working on an increasingly large scale. This has enabled the development of a number of concepts from my Jewellery activity into new forms. The circular Mandala image in particular has become strongly identified with me. I have now found a way in which this imagery can be extended through movement. Mandala’s are abstract circular pattern forms which engender a sense of wholeness and completion. They are cross cultural and occur spontaneously in many periods ( e.g. Stonehenge, the rose windows of the Gothic Cathedrals, the domes of the Mosques of Isfahan).

Amanda Birkitt
Amanda Birkitt has worked as a silversmith for 30yrs since leaving High Wycombe University with a first class Honours degree, and has exhibited throughout the South East.

The "Chaos" vase was designed as a celebration of silver for British Silver Week. The dashes and swirls represent atoms colliding, light refracting and comet tails traversing the skies. The technique uses piercing and raised areas to exaggerate movement and liveliness. Piercing is typical of Amanda's work, although she also designs plain pure silver items such as jugs, bowls and spoons, incorporating movement and flowing lines which is always a part of her work.
