Niki Turner
Niki enjoys elements of design that are both simplistic as well as elegant, which to her are the ethos of sophistication. She is drawn to industrial design and architecture in particular that of a zoomorphic representation.

Much of her work is functional as well as ornamental. Working mainly in silver, she incorporates surface contrast and mixed media that she feels will compliment the final design.

My work explores the relationship between flowers and the contrasting qualities of silver, bringing the two together to create a single display piece, where both elements are of equal visual importance. I find new forms for vases by examining the physical requirements of a container for cut flowers and exploring how the form of the container can control or affect the arrangement of the flowers. Rather than the vase merely performing the physical function of containment, the resulting composition is one in which the metal and the flowers combine to form a single, sculptural object of beauty.
